About this Site
This website is intended to track all changes related to the US Department of Education under the Trump administration and help explain what these changes mean/who they affect. I pull news from across the internet and a wide variety of sources, and I regularly go back and update/add more things I’ve missed. Over the years it will be a comprehensive record of how K-12 and higher education is changing as a result of the policies and actions of this administration.
Department of Education Tracker is completely independent and managed entirely by one person, so although I aim to keep it up to date there may occasionally be some delays. It is not intended to be a breaking news site; this is a record of events with some of my own analysis thrown in.
Although I intend for everything to relate back to Federal Department of Education events, I will also include news which is more broadly education-related. This includes disability, immigration, housing and other topics which affect children and families.
I decided to create this website in Feb 2025 after my original spreadsheet started to get a little too large to be easily read. I was inspired by Project 2025 Tracker and Disability Rights Watch. The spreadsheet is still the source of my data and regularly updated, and contains some additional information and links not included on this website.
About Me
I started my career as a K-5 teacher. My longest teaching role was in visual arts education (also my degree/certification), but I have taught in general ed classrooms, small-group literacy/math tutoring and been a K-8 substitute teacher. I have also completed coursework towards an English Language Learners endorsement.
Right now I’m a practicing (sometimes) visual artist and mom of an autistic child. I am also neurodivergent and passionate about special education and disability justice. I left teaching because of chronic health issues but I love education and working with children, so I volunteer at my kid’s school when I can.
I live in New York City with my kid, husband and two cats. In my (rare) free time I like bird-watching, learning to cook Chinese food and taking naps.
